Auditions for Shrek for ages 8 to adult. This is an adult production. There are only a couple roles for children. To help with the large numbers we anticipate you need to click on the link below and pick an audition time slot. Each hour we will see 12 people. At the audition please come prepared with 32-48 bars from one of the songs listed below. Also come prepared to recite one of the monologues. Please pick your first choice for characters. At the end of your time slot all 12 people will be taught a short dance. From these auditions we will determine our call back list. At call backs be prepared to possibly sing again and read. Call back is where you could be asked to read or sing for additional roles that you may be interested in. Plan to be at call backs the entire time Sunday April 28 from 12-5pm. If cast there is a participation fee of $45.00 plus you must be a current DAG member. Please come prepared to list ALL known conflicts between May 1-Opening night. If you have additional questions not addressed here please email us at

DONKEY Hey! Didn’t you hear what they said? Man this place is goin’ stepford! We gotta join forces! Otherwise they’re going to lock me up! And I cannot go back in a cage! I don’t know if I mentioned it or not, but I did six years in solitary for impersonating a piñata. Whoa, that was really scary. And if you don’t mind me saying, if that don’t work your breath’ll certainly get the job done. Shrek? Huh. Well, you know what I like about you, Shrek? You got that whole, “I don’t care what anybody thinks of me.” Thing. I like that, I respect that, Shrek. You all right.

GINGY No, not the gum drop buttons! Alright, I’ll tell you.Do you know the muffin man? The Muffin Man! Well, I heard it from the muffin man. The Muffin Man! NO! Not the buttons! Not my gumdrop buttons! Okay… I’ll tell you. She’s a day’s walk from here. Ya want a princess or not?! In a dragon-guarded castle, surrounded by hot boiling lava. In the highest room in the tallest tower, you’ll find a fiery red head named Princess Fiona.

SHREK Our swamp? Donkey, there is no our. There’s no we. There’s just me and my swamp. And when I do get back, the first thing I’m gonna do is build a ten foot wall around my land. I’m not the one with the problem, okay? It’s the world who seems to have a problem with me. You saw how the princess reacted. That’s how it always is. People take one look at me and it’s all “aghhhh! Help! A big stupid ugly ogre!” They judge me before they even get to know me. That’s why I am better off alone.

PRINCESS FIONA I am awaiting a knight sold bold as to rescue me. But wait, Sir Knight! I have long awaited this day! And I would’st first like to knowest the name of my champion. Sir Shrek? I pray that you take this as a token of my gratitude. Now holdest on, sir knight. Don’t you want to savor this moment? It be-eth our first meeting. It must be a wonderful and romantic scene.

PINOCCHIO Just when ya think life can’t get any worse, ya get evicted from a swamp. Man, I tell ya, sometimes being a fairy tale creature sucks pine sap. But Wait a minute! Maybe that ogre wasn’t the answer, but something better will come along, and we have to wait for it, because that’s what fairy tale creatures do. We wait for miracles. We wish upon stars! So prepare to have your mind blown!

LORD FARQUAAD Whooa, Plastic horse! Forgive me, princess, for startling you. I am Lord Farquaad. Oh, that is so sweet, but you don’t have to waste your manners on the ogre. It’s not like it has feelings. Princess Fiona, beautiful, fair, flawless Fiona. I ask your hand in marriage (Pronounce wrong). Will you be the perfect bride for the perfect groom? Oh, anxious are we? Captain, ride ahead and tell them it’s code red! You’re right. The sooner the better. There’s so much to do! I need to get my hair pressed. We’re going to get a queen!
